Can anyone of you please try to clear my doubt what exactly is Program ID's in http type RFC in TA SM59
When I am checking any type T RFC in my PRD system i am able to see multiple type T RFCs but i am not able to understand what exactly is program ID in that connection.
In addition to that what exactly is purpose of differencet type of "Activation Type". What is meaning of each option.

Let me explain this issue i
There is customer who would like to upgrade their system to latest NW 7.4. Main issue here are the actual software components installed which does not fit on any proposals by SAP when defining a Product System in the Landscape Directory
Current Technical System is BWD. With the following components installed, Its sorta a mix of SEM, ERP and NW 7.01 since customer added SAP_BS FOUNDATION 701 and BI CONT 704 without following an Stack
Original System was supposed to be SEM + BW
This is the inital step, when adding Technical System to a Product System
Actual software components are
PI_BASIS 701
SAP ABA 701
SAP BASIS 701
SAP BW 701
FINBASIS 600
BI CONT ADDON 704
SAP BS FOUNDATION
SEM-BW 600
SAP proposal is EHP1 for NETWEAVER 7.0 with Business Intelligence
This only covers standard 4 main components for EHP1
Then i tried to define the system as EHP4 for ERP 6.0 which covers also BS_FOUNDATION_701 but somehow landscape verification does not cover it
I understand ERP 6.0 and NETWEAVER and standalone, so they cannot be used on a same technical system, but even if EHP4 for ERP 6.0 is marked as installed is marked as invalid in the Verification
But Still SEM_BW 600 and FINBASIS 600 are not covered, so i guess this can be added as Addon in Maintenance Optimizer
BI CONT 704 is not part of any proposal product system, since only BI_CONT 703 is part of EHP1 for NW 70 (BI)
So I would like your comments on how to troubleshoot this, since its stopping our plans for Upgrade to NW 7.4

I have to activate the language for french and Italian but in RSCPINST by clicking F4 french and Italian languages are present and English and Germany languages are activated already.
My question is if the listed languages are already presented in this system just activation is enough or I have to download from SMP and activate it?
If I have to download from SMP means Please help us how to do that?

Does anyone have experience in connection setting between SAP BW system and external databases?
Our bw system is based on NW7.31 oracle db 11.2.0.3 HPUX11.31, however BW consultant would like to connect external database - MSSQL, is it something like ODBC driver I should look for? and then add it in the kernel path of BW system? I tried to find SQL Server ODBC driver for HPUX but seems there isn't..
Please kindly share your ideas. thanks a lot.
By the way, is it possible to connect BOBJ system to external databases instead of SAP BW system? how can I set it up? Thanks!

I used to think this was possible under the old SPAM update method, but with NW 7.40 SP05, you have to use SUM.
I need to apply SAP Netweaver 7.40 SP05, to an SAP SEM-BCS system.
The SEM-BCS is the one which is included in a stripped down ERP 6 EHP 7 install.
The stack for ERP 6 EHP 7 SPS02 includes Netweaver 7.40 SPS04.
I need SPS05 which requires Kernel 7.41.
How the heck can I generate a stack in MOPz to just update the underlying Netweaver components and not the ERP/SEM-BCS layer?
I thought that support package stacks were introduced to ensure you only upgrade to a complete consistent and compatible stack.
I don't know if I need to go back to SAP and tell them I can't apply their suggested upgrade path. (That's right, SAP suggested this).

I'm trying to give read only access to SPRO but have no idea how to do it... I tried to use some topics here. For example:
Setting SPRO authorization only in disply mode | SCN
and various... But it does not work for me.
In my case i have user with role sap_all (i guess this permissions allow user alot to do).
And i created a role as it was discribed in topics above.
So... If user is a member of two roles. In first role SPRO is allowed to edit, in second role SPRO alowed only in readonly mode. Which permissions will work? i thought "deny" always has a priority.. but it seems like in SAP it work another way...

kernel release 701.
I lately had system copy to DEV .from PRD - with software provision manager.
the kernel was change to 720.
this kernel Couse to RFC problem to external system- I know that rfcexe file no longer exist in this kernel.
but I looking for solution.
I understand that there is a replacement for this issu - more secure (sdk rfc)
but I need help to start and configure this sdk.
I try to add the rfc file from the old kernel to the new one.
but the connection refuse to work .
(the connection are "register to server" TCP\IP)

Dear all,
I am installing the SAP Netweaver 7.31 through the Windows 2008 VM. When creating the database instance, it pops up an error window.
The version of database is MaxDB. The log shows:
ERROR 2014-01-06 17:03:37.59 [cinstallercallbackimpl.cpp:229]
Error during execution of command identifier 'PARAM_ADDVOL' : <DBMException -24946 ERR_TOOMANYPARAM Too many parameters>

As part of daily monitoring i need to check connection of multiple RFC in multiple STG and PRD systems. 
Its hectic work. Is there any way to automate to check the " Connection and Authorization Test" of multiple RFC's at once?
I am aware of BDC using Excel macros but as per my knowledge BDC does not supports "TREE" structure which is available in SM59.
Any idea to automate this tedious job? All sort of ideas are welcome.

We are going to install a new NW 7.4 system but have a strange request from domain admins to not using default usernames for SAP domain accounts (<SID>adm, SAPService<SID>, etc) but with ".svc" at the end (<SID>adm.svc).
I couldn't find any information if this will cause problems or not. Does anybody tried a usernames with point in it? Any information helpful for prove that this is not suitable also will be appreciated.
